Go Miners!

Minor League baseball has come to Southern Illinois, in the form of this new team, the Miners. The team is in Marion, about a half-hour drive, and tickets are $5-$8 each, with games all summer though not every day.

Minor League baseball means relaxing fun, not the best quality baseball, but usually good games with players who might be famous in the future (on their way up). Usually the people are friendly and people like to talk baseball, if you don't know all the details. It may not be as exciting as the Ittihad-Hilal game, but for us baseball fans, it's baseball at its best, its players not corrupted by fame & media. Try it!

Memorial Day

While CESL students and teachers alike may enjoy the day off on Monday, you may not realize that this particular holiday may be said to have started in Carbondale. Of course, Carbondale is not the only town that claims it. But for a small town like this, any distinction is important- we don't get to pick & choose. You (may) live in the town that started it all- pass it along!
